Race results are in and have been posted!
It was a gorgeous morning to be on the trail. Each year we hear and see so many great stories – some are inspiring, some are humbling, and some are downright heartbreaking. We come together for solace, to support and recognize our loved ones, and to celebrate life. Thanks for being a part of our event!
We’d like to give special recognition to the families and friends who created teams for our race this year :
- Da Bug Bunch
- Millie’s Magnificent Mob
- Run for Beth
- Team Declan
- Team Nikki
- Team Smile
- Team Tonio
Be sure to check out all of the pictures we have posted to our Facebook page – please tag and share, or post your own photos so we can add those to our album!
Our goals are to highlight Epilepsy awareness in Utah and advocate for better understanding of Epilepsy and seizures. This is one of the largest events held in partnership with the Epilepsy Association of Utah, and is the first active event started in Utah with a focus on Epilepsy. We promote a more active lifestyle for anyone through participation in our 5k.
- This year every race bag included a seizure response card that can be placed on your fridge, in your workplace breakroom, or in your car’s glove box. Take two minutes to read about seizure response, and to learn that seizures are unique to the part of the brain where the seizure activity occurs.
- Epilepsy Association of Utah provides Seizure Smart training online (14 minutes) that provides more information about epilepsy, seizures and seizure response. You can also contact the EAU if you would like to schedule a live presentation.
- We have posted more epilepsy facts on our web site at http://purpledash5k.com/get-the-facts.
November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month. Please help us promote our Virtual 5k that continues through the end of the month. If you have friends who missed the event or couldn’t travel to South Jordan, please encourage them to register at https://2015pd5k.itsyourrace.com/register. We’ll send them a virtual bib and finisher’s medal for their pledge to run, walk or roll a 5k. We want to #purplethemap with runners in every state and internationally – we currently have participants in US, Canada and Hong Kong!
